The Purpose of Fasting: The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God (James 4:8) and to position oneself to the Will of God for one's life. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose; it hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepare our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives. Remember, your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and, most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.
This year we will ENGAGE in a two-part FAST
#1-Daniel Fast: Inspired by the biblical account of Daniel, this fast involves consuming only fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and water. It excludes meat, dairy products, and other rich foods. The Daniel Fast is popular for its focus on spiritual discipline and reliance on God.
#2 Spending Fast: We will abstain from online and in-person shopping for these days, only purchasing necessities and needed items for our 10th anniversary. This may include eliminate eating out, purchasing favorite drinks, buying clothing/electronics/ video games, buying multiple items to include in a stockpile, etc. Calculate how much money you save over these dates. This type of Fast is significant because it allows us to focus on healthy stewardship.
We will have 6:00am-6:15pm prayer call during these days.
