Pastor Wylie ”Jay” Boyd, Jr. was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Pastor Jay is the husband of Pastor Tiffany Boyd. From their union, they have one son, Jeremiah, and one daughter, Jael. He is the second child of Deacon Wylie and Deaconess Annie Kate Boyd.

 Pastor Wylie “Jay” Boyd, Jr. graduated in 1997 from Baltimore City College High School. After graduation, he attended Morgan State University in the Honors Program with a full scholarship. While attending Morgan, he was inducted into several honors societies. They included Beta Gamma Sigma, Golden Key, and Kappa Alpha Mu. Elder Boyd was also a member of The INROADS program that developed young leaders with training in leadership and it provided internships in their field of study. In 2001, Elder Boyd earned a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems and Business Management. He also became a certified computer technician and is currently employed as an IT field technician in Baltimore County Public School system.

 Pastor Jay started his Christian walk at Timothy Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. James L. Ball and later at New Psalmist Baptist Church, under Bishop Walter Scott Thomas, Sr. At New Psalmist Baptist, he held the position as president of the CAPS (Christian Adult Posse) ministry. In 2001, he was led by the Spirit to join the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. At Mt. Carmel, he has held the position as the leader of The Boys to Men Mentoring Ministry and in 2007, he was ordained as a Deacon. In 2013, Elder Boyd was elected as the youngest Chairman of the Deacon board in the Church’s history.

In January of 2015, God birthed New Hope Ministries in the life of Pastor Jay and his wife, Pastor Tiffany Boyd, where he serves as Executive Pastor and Visionary and she serves as Senior Pastor. They started this church with less than 10 members and held their first service on February 8, 2015. God has already greatly increased the growth of this ministry and continues to bless New Hope Ministries. This stepping out on faith was led by the scripture: Matthew 28:19, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

 Believing that those in authority should also be under authority, in 2017, Pastors Wylie & Tiffany Boyd were affirmed and ordained as pastors by Pastors Linwood & Dr. Karen Bethea. They are the Spiritual covering of New Hope Ministries and the pastors of Set The Captives Free Outreach Center.

Pastor Jay gives God all the glory for his blessings and accomplishments. He is truly humbled to be placed as a servant of The Most High God. One of his favorite scriptures is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
